quick chance, yay or nay

Just curious if this school is too high of a reach. I kind of think so but I'll apply anyway

Freshman Applicant (OOS - Florida)
First Generation
HS UW: 3.45
HS W: 4.31

Dual enrollment student; will graduate with an Associates degree
College GPA: 3.4
Total of 70 credit hours and 21 college classes taken

ACT: 25 composite, E: 24, M: 25 R: 24 S: 27; essay: 8

think I could get in with a 25 ACT?

p.s. I'm an economics (liberal arts) or business major.

I think you may have to apply as a transfer student if you have an AA, but I’m not certain from looking at GT’s website. In that case, I do not believe they will look at your high school GPA or ACT score (which is probably a good thing); only your college GPA will be important as well as having a minimum number of transferable hours and classes in particular areas. see: <a href=“Blow the Whistle! (404 error: page not found) | Undergraduate Admission”>Blow the Whistle! (404 error: page not found) | Undergraduate Admission;

Also, not to be pedantic, but it’s “yea” :)

I’m certain GA Tech will treat me as a freshman applicant even though I will have a junior standing

In that case, to be honest I don’t think it’s worth applying for freshmen admissions. GT’s admissions are very formulaic (one poster, who is on the faculty, makes some reference to a “point” system based on GPA and standardized test scores)

The Freshman Index is no secret system. The entire Board of Regents system uses it: https://secure.gacollege411.org/College_Planning/Prepare_for_College/Entrance_Requirements/USG_College_Entrance_Requirements/Freshman_Student/Accredited_High_School_Student/Freshman_Index_Requirements.aspx</a> . The BOR characterizes schools (e.g. Research University, Regional University, State University, etc) and then sets a minimum FI for that classification. That doesn’t mean it’s the only calculation GT does, but you know it is a calculation they do perform.

As for the OP - will you get in? No.

Also, it’s worth noting that you probably wouldn’t enter Tech as a Junior. I assume you’re coming from a CC, in which case, you’ll probably only be able to transfer in electives and some freshman courses.

G.P.Burdell, I just calculated what my score will likely be (3098) using that link. Do you think a 3098 will get me into Tech?

With a 3.55 GPA, I have to say it’s a reach. You very well might get in with our test scores, but it’s less than certain.

On a related note - finding that information was an adventure. You’re a “professional sex machine” that likes Tom Brady and ska? Wow.

^Hahahaha and thanks.

Professional Sex Machine: Joke
Tom Brady: Yes, I’m an enormous Patriots fan (in that sense, not in the homosexual sense of liking)
Ska: Yeah, I have a thing for ska.
