I read “Mein Kampf” to “get in the mind of Hitler” but would this look bad to put as a reading for pleasure?

for films, performances, exhibits, would it be ok to put rock concerts I attended? Or my favorite movies? Or is this a very intellectual question?

Put whatever is true to yourself. I don't see the reason to put what you "think" they would like to see. This is just a question to gauge their vague idea of who you are.

I put that Sin City was my favorite movie. Whatev.

I have a similar question (sorry for the thread hijack). I'll be honest. I don't read much, mainly because we have to read outside of class in english. I've read two books outside of school. does that look bad? I'm hoping I'm not the only one. Also, all the movies I saw sucked. some sucked less than others, though. should I lie and pick one?

Um. Not quite sure how to answer that cause I'm a book-nerd ( I love reading ) and love watching movies. Just choose the best out of the ones you've watched. For the books, just list the two books; I mean, if you don't normally read book, then reading those books means they must have been somewhat good/interesting to you?

As for the OP's question, it doesn't matter about reading Hitler's book. If you enjoyed it, then go ahead and list it!

Calvin and Hobbes is and will almost always be, my favorite book. Yea, it's a comic book, yea it might not reflect as well as reading on astrophysics for pleasure, but Calvin's a genius.

so.. yes or no to casual movies?

yes or no to concerts? (i.e. taste of chaos)

No to the Mein Kampf, yes to the rock concerts and movies. Admitting you've read Mein Kampf for whatever reason will probably shift the adcoms slightly against you, while not putting down rock concerts and movies and only putting down artsy stuff will make you look like a liar or pseudointellectual (unless a passion for the fine arts is really reflected in the rest of your app; then I guess you should put it down).

I don't see why not Mein Kampf. -_-

:o Hey, what's wrong with artsy stuff. I happen to like artsy stuff, even if my apps don't reflect fine arts. I'm a personal artist, though I didn't mention it in my apps, and I like artsy, thank you.
I just put down a LACMA exhibition I went to, put down Godfather (which I love :)!) and I think Moulin Rouge?

i dont know the concensus, anyone else? thoughts on mein kampf?

Relax i dont think that columbia will reject you becuase they think you will backstab them and take over an entire continent.

I put I bunch of casual movies, so don'tworry about putting just one.

this is a time to show that u are different,
remember what adcoms say....not taking risks means keeping your applicatons safe and not effective.
just make sure you didnt say that this is right and this iswrong or hitler is wrong and i am right......something like that!!! dont be the judge of things

just write your relation and influence with the topic...as long as you do that and as long as your topic is out of the usual....you can make a pretty strong essay.

great advice, ntek511 :)

would I be doing that in the additional information section?
