The Common App asks students if they plan on doing the listed EC in college.
How much does the answer matter? It's hard to know exactly how to answer. A student could do a sport on the varsity level in hs and want to do it in college at the intramural level. How would the student answer the question?

It really depends on what activity you are talking about. Colleges want to see you are planning to be engaged outside the classroom, so do check some boxes as planning to continue. But, the particular boxes you check will probably not make a difference in your admissions decision unless you have a particular skill the college needs (musical, athletic, debate, etc.) Many schools use those boxes only for mailing lists to send you specific info about programs at their schools. Continuing in community service or religious organizations probably won’t matter in the admissions decision at all.
