Quick CR questions

So right now I am doing the practice questions starting on page 88 of the Blue Book.. and I have several quick questions.
On page 90. question 3, I was confused about what the answer choices actually mean.
What is the difference between a "double standard is being employed" and "the defendants share the mainstream of American values"
I was contemplating between C and A, but since I was not sure what double standard meant exactly, I put C instead because I thought that since the jury was influenced by the common American belief, that it would be the mainstream of American values.

Then, I was totally confused about Mr.Lloyd's speech. I didn't see what the author tried to imply by mentioning him. So if anyone can explain why its a threat to be feared that'd be great.

And also number 2, I was again STUCK between TWO choices and picked the wrong one!!! AHH. I hate this. =[

I'm really bad at comprehending political passages that CB puts in their tests. Should I try and read more political articles? I despise politics cause I don't understand it. haha

bump......

can anyone explain them? lol

bumpp?! lol
Does any one know if I can find anywhere the explanations to these practice questions?

double standard= standard applied more leniently to one group than to another (dictionary quote)
in the passage it means that justice did not accuse the business owners of anything because of their money and power but did accuse the communists because they were poor.
you could have figured out the answer by elimination. skim the passage in question. are there anywhere mainstream american values mentioned? no, therefore the answer is the one with double standards.
