Quick, dumb question

If you accept the scholarships/FA, are you committing to attend A&M? Ds has A&M in his top three but won't make a final decision until the end of the month.

ha! my kid is doing the same thing.

thought she decided the other day, but today she said she really hasn’t decided yet!

I thought A&M had fallen off the list completely, but yesterday the no. 3 school got bumped by A&M. The other two schools are radically different than A&M, so it’s going to come down to whether he wants to stay in his comfort zone emotionally but in a school that’s a little different academically or pursue the far-away schools that academically are more to his liking.

D accepted her scholarships before she registered for new student conference. I think the registering is how you fully accept admission so I don’t think anything is official until then. I just didn’t want those scholarships hanging out there too long.

a little bit of the same story here. stay in comfort zone or fly away from the nest?

i think either choice will be fine, so i am not pushing one over the other.

You’re not really committed until you register/pay for your new student conference.

Ds got a call just now from an A&M recruiter – staff person, not a student – who said that you could register for new student conference and still change your mind before May 1 and get a refund. Is that true?

I would believe an A&M recruiter – staff person, not a student – over anything anyone would say here ;)

Normally, I’d agree with you, kl, but she has a vested interest in getting my son to the school, and y’all don’t have a dog in the fight. Already, I had one recruiter type tell ds to do one thing (he did) and then when I called financial aid I learned the ramifications of what he did. They weren’t deal-breakers, but I wish the woman had been more forthcoming of what those actions would have meant.

can you request an extension?

I don’t want an extension; I want ds to fish or cut bait! Just wondering what moving forward with the NSC commits him to.

I think I’ve read that the NSC fee is nonrefundable. It’s like $75, right?
