besides local voulenteering, clubs, and sports (yes i realize gainign leadership in those) what are soem other good EC's?

I believe thats it. Unless you cure a disease...

Awards, while not going in the EC column, are as good if not better than EC's

Curing cancer and ending world hunger is always good. Oh, and stopping the genocide in Darfur might win you some points. :p

Really, though, I'm convinced that publications are the key to success. I'm trying to get a novel and/or short story and/or science research published by the time college apps go out in two years. Hah. We'll see how that goes.

Yeah because that's super easy to do...

Adcoms really like it when you show consistency/a focus in your EC's. For instance, I've been involved in choir for 9 years. It shows them that you have the drive/motivation/determination or whatever you want to call it to stick with something.

internships, jobs, music (intrumental/vocal), drama (having lead roles)

Well, it could be... if your writing is good enough and you know the right people. ;)

XD I suppose so.That's the story with everything, yes? "If you know the right people..."

<<<if you="" know="" the="" right="" people="">>></if>

That's how the world goes round.

And nepotism..can't leave out the nepotism.

^^ o course not!
(ok im stupid what does that mean?)

internships!!!!!
