Quick Fin Aid question

What happens if I accept the financial aid package from my safety UC but then get accepted to my UC of choice? Is this going to cause issues? Or does it not matter 'cause I'm not enrolling in classes/SIR-ing at the safety school?

I want to know this too. Bump.

I would assume you won’t be able to accept the aid package from a school until you’ve accepted their offer with a SIR. But in any case, the financial aid package isn’t binding; if you don’t enroll at a school, you won’t receive a disbursement from them.

Did you SIR to both schools?

Well in my case it’s UC Riverside and they want you to accept their Financial Aid by May 1st, but don’t have to SIR until June 1.
I didn’t SIR anywhere yet because I am still waiting for UC Irvine, so yeeep.

I haven’t SIR’d anywhere yet. I might wait another year and try for Cal (since I’m sure I won’t get in this year).

Just go ahead and accept the financial aid package anywhere you think you might attend. You can even accept the loan portions, it won’t commit you to taking out any loans because you haven’t filled out loan request paperwork or signed an MPN.

^^

I agree. And with the ways things are going in California… Do not wait another year. You might regret it.
