Quick GPA Question

Hi! Idk much about college admissions so this should be a pretty quick question for someone to answer. When applying,is your GPA from your freshman, sophomore, and junior years averaged or are they sent separately? only junior year?

Most schools will take your cumulative academic GPA for Freshman/Sophomore and Junior year. Many will also ask for Mid-year Senior grades.

California UC’s, Cal States and Stanford will use only 10-11th grades in their GPA calculation but they still ask you to report your Freshman grades.

Each school will calculate your GPA based on their own criteria. Some schools will make it quite clear how they calculate GPA’s and many do not.

Using your unweighted GPA out of a 4.0 scale is the easiest way to gauge your chances for many of the schools.

^^^ Agree with Gumbymom. Each school is different.

Note that cumulative would be different from average of GPA from each year if you have different number of courses each year.

Thank you all so much!
