Hello, I was searching for (and could not find) the 2009 harvard Application essays. Wondering if anybody remembers the topic, or can provide a link for them. thanks.

There are no recommended/required topics for the application essays. The Common App has some suggestions but they don’t require them nor does Harvard. The Optional Supplemental essay can be about anything as well.

there has to be some sort of topics, right? So you can just write about whatever if you? and how many essays are there?

The Common Application provides a list of sample topics but you may choose your own. The Harvard supplement has an optional essay that is the topic of your choice.

Both the Harvard supplement and the ComApp have suggestions for essay ideas. I don’t know what the other repliers meant.

ComApp suggestions:

Harvard suggestions:

ETA: O, I guess they meant that you can write about anything. Yes, that you can. Or, for the Harvard essay, you can write about nothing. By that I mean write nothing. Not do some sort of nihilist essay. Harvard would be cool with that too though.

thanks, but what is the difference between ComApp and harvard suggestions? are you supposed to pick a few from each or write all of them?

It will be bltantly obvious to you when you apply. There is a Common Application, which includes an essay. There is a Harvard supplementary application, which includes the option to submit an essay.
