SOCIAL AND BEHAVIORAL SCIENCES - at least 3 courses (9 semester/12-15 quarter units), selected from at least 2 disciplines:

just to make sure when it says 2 disciplines it means that I can take 2 poli sci classes and 1 econ classes right?

thanks for the clarification everyone

I believe those are both social science courses. Something like psychology or anthropology would be a behavioral science, dealing with how humans act.

The IGETC at my school specifies that “Courses from 2 different subjects is required,” so I’m thinking you’ll be okay with Poli Sci and Econ.

Well, every school is different.
I wouldn’t suggest taking other’s words for THEIR school.
Make sure you clarify with your school’s guidelines.

I checked the UC website and they have a guideline as well:
4. Social and Behavioral Sciences

Three courses from at least two disciplines, or an interdisciplinary

[University of California - Intersegmental General Education Transfer Curriculum (IGETC)](http://www.universityofcalifornia.edu/admissions/transfer/requirements/additional-requirements/igetc/index.html)

So I’m guessing discipline just means atleast 2 different subjects? haha just wanna make sure. thanks

It’s true that every school is different in which courses qualify for the IGETC program but the general IGETC requirements/pattern should be the same for each school otherwise it wouldn’t be a standard. Easiest way to find out, Ryan2136 which CC do you go to? They should have a copy of IGETC and which courses of theirs will fulfill each section.

In case any of these are your schools:

Saddleback: Any two subjects within Social/Behavioral Sciences.
OCC: Any two sub-areas, and then lists each subject as a sub-area.
SMC: Any two disciplines, and then lists each subject as an individual discipline.

Seems to be a pattern…

I go to SMC and Econ 1,2 etc is listed as well as Poli Sci 1,2 etc. So I guess when it says Atleast 2 different disciplines it means that Econ and Poli Sci will suffice…thanks for the help

@belkster oh okay thanks a lot, i guess since poli sci and econ are two different subjects, ill be fine.
