I've searched the forum, yes...
but I can't seem to find a clear explanation of how UC schools
calc GPAs.
Can anyone explain or post a link to a thread with good explanation?

thanks!

Also,
do I have to list grades for each courses from all 4 terms on the app?
cuz my school transcript only provides final year grades (so one grade for each course).

If you get only one grade a year, then that will be the grade you use, I assume.

UC GPA is calculated using only As, Bs, Cs, Ds, and Fs (no A-, B+, etc).

You get 4 points for a A, 3 for a B, 2 for a C, and 1 for a D. In (UC-approved) honors and AP classes, those points increase by 1 (5 for A, 4 for B, etc). You can only use 8 semesters of honors/APs to calculate your GPA, but for you I'm assuming it would just be 4 year-long courses. Add all of those up, excluding PE and other non-college prep classes, and average them out, and you have your UC GPA.

when other posts have been replied and gets to be on the top of the forum list, you can "bump" your post by replying because the most recent one is on the top of the list and therefore gets more attention.

im really mad at the GPA calculation system. bc i had too many normal classes over my sophomore and junior yr. Even though I had more AP/honors classes than my friends, they still have a slightly higher GPA than me just because I took a lot of nonAP classes....

ok so to calc UC GPA,
take all a-g courses (history, math, sci, eng, foreign lang)
and add GPA up (A=4, B-3, etc)
and add 1 to all a-g AP and HL courses.
divide the sum by the number of courses.

confucius: Well, people usually complain that people who took a lot of non-AP classes have a higher overall GPA and therefore a higher rank, because it is generally easier to get a good grade in a non-AP course.

When calculating the UC GPA, do we include all A-G courses taken, or just those taken in the sophomore and junior years? ._.

yea..its so not fair.
i did more AP+ more non-AP classes than those ppl, and they still get a higher GPA. and when calculating ur GPA, u can only take 8 semesters as 5 pts per A.

soo if i wanted to calculate my weighted GPA, I would have to add an extra point for each ap/honors class. Like If I got 2 A's for both semesters, I would add 10 points, where as unweighted it would be 4? And do I add an extra point for college taken courses? and what if its a make up course?
