Quick Q's - hoping for quick answers

1.) Got 4's on U.S. History and Eng. Lang and Comp. Is this worth reporting on optional portions of apps to highly competitive schools?

2.) ~85hrs community service. Very scattered and not really going on activities section. Should I lump it together in activities or just casually mention in addition info? Some other place?

3.) Have to choose between visiting brown and princeton (I live in Alabama) both fairly big streches. Which one? What to see? How important is visit (for chances)?

4.) 150 or less activity description. Not much room for romantisizing it. Is a mostly fact based "essay" ok (more tell less show)?

Answer one, all or just comment. I'd love to hear all and any thoughts. Thanks

For #4, I understand about the “not much room for romantizing” but you might want to drop all the fact-based elements (those will be on your activities list anyway), and just write the most exquisite nugget of romance instead.

For example, say your major EC is music. A pithy, creative, 150 well-chosen words on where your mind goes when you play a certain piece would be far more interesting than another fact based essay. KWIM?

still totally worth it.

just put it, but it isn’t going to be very valuable.

save your money. don’t go, both don’t care whether you love the school or hate it.

dunno about princeton, but brown straight out admits it cares about demonstrated interest. i doubt it would help your chances much, though.

Thanks. Anymore comments?

When a person does visit Brown, there is no documentation of that visit. So, although Brown may care about demonstrated interest, visiting must not be that important to them.

I would not stress about visiting. Are you on their mailing list? I am sure others can assist with showing demonstrating interest in other ways.

I would list the 4’s on APs.

Good luck
