I was wondering if an A- in high school is any different from getting an A or A+. When I apply for colleges, will they only consider my GPA or will they also scrutinize the quality of my letter grades?
If it helps, at my high school, getting all A- is still considered a 4.0.
I’m pretty sure it doesn’t matter. An A is an A. At my school, we’re not allowed to get A+s or extra credit.
The college will consider the GPA written on your transcript.
Different high schools calculate GPA differently, so colleges generally won’t take your GPA at face value. Some colleges recalculate GPA using their own methods, and some just look at the grades on your transcript and your course rigor in the context of your school (using the School Report provided by your guidance counselor). They will acknowledge the difference between A-, A, and A+.
