When you list a sport on an application (for example) as one of your activities, do you have to be on team for it to count? Say if you've been playing soccer for about 2 years and you plan on joining a team in a few months, can you say that you've been playing soccer for 2 years?

Pretty sure you’re fine.

In what capacity have you been playing soccer? Like how much time commitment have you put into it? It might hurt you if you add it on there if you haven’t really dedicated yourself.

However, I don’t see why it would be a problem. Some kids list that they can play musical instruments even if they don’t actually play those instruments in a band/in public.

You could always check with the admissions offices of the colleges you are applying to.

Occasionally I play in school and on my free time with friends. I used to play on a team years ago and I’m trying out this year as a senior.

Another question, can you list a nomination as an achievement?

just be specific. don’t put “varsity” if you didn’t play varsity, etc.

ok thanks, any ideas about the nomination question?
