Quick question about app process

Is it safe to submit the online application first and send my transcript and letter of recs later? I'm almost finished with the online application and I want to submit it asap. I just wanted to know if admissions will still consider it if I had things sent to them at different days/times. If it is okay to go about this way, then should I notify the admissions beforehand?

Pitt states on its website that they want as you to send the components of your application as close together as possible. Probably because they are rolling and the rec, resume, essay etc. are optional, they won’t know they are coming and will review your application without all of the info. The transcripts should be requested asap as they take a while to process on both ends. That was the last part of my daughter’s application to show up. Once it did, it took a week and half to hear. The big envelope arrived today with congratulations on the front!

Yes, I think it is safe to do that. Does the application ask you anywhere if you intend to submit supplemental information? If so, be sure to check it off. Also, when you submit any additional info, I think you should be sure to put your name and the last four of your ss# on all pages of it to assure that it is added to your file correctly.

I wouldn’t worry too much about submitting your rec and transcript later. I submitted my app online by Aug. 25th and my transcript and letter of rec weren’t sent until Sept 15th, and I didn’t hear anything negative from the admissions office.

Do whatever will be most convenient for you, but know that either way they can’t begin processing your app until they receive ALL components.

If you send your supplements later, you can call the admissions office and verify that they made it to your file.

congrats eptr!!

This is what I did. They received my 'scripts about a week after my online application, then I received their decision a week after that.

Thank you everyone! very helpful
