quick question about applicants

does Georgetown compare your application to others from your school/area?
i assume each college has an individual selection process, correct?

Short answer: there are several different admissions committees, one each for SFS, MSB, and NHS, as well as a FLL committee, a College Sciences committee, and one for the remainder of College applicants (including the ever-popular “undeclared” major). Students, deans, and faculty from the various units serve on the respective committees.

You are evaluated in the context of your environment and opportunities, but not directly against fellow applicants. Of course, if you’re the tenth debater applying from Florida or the fiftieth student body president from New York, it will be harder to stand out, especially if others are more accomplished than you are. But you won’t be held up against another student from your school and directly compared.
