I want to call my school and ask if it is possible to receive more money or ask about my options for financing the rest of my education. Would it be better for me to call myself, or have one of my parents call? What do you suggest saying that would increase my chances? I don't want to sound dumb or as if I don't know what I'm talking about! (I know it's late in the year to do this but it's worth a shot)

Have your parents call.

Do you have any special circumstances?

Does this school “meet need”?

Is this an OOS public?

edited to add…

This is for OOS UConn

Now that your dad lives there, will you get instate rates or do you have to live there for a year with him first?

Since your parents were turned down for Plus, you may not have any choice but to defer a year and get residency in Conn.
