Hello, I am a senior in high school and I want to apply to Columbia University and major in Medicine. I went to the website and found these: Columbia College, Engineering and Applied Science, General Studies, Postbaccalaureate Premedical Program. I'm not sure which category I fit in! Apparently, Postbaccalaureate Premedical Program is after you completed some courses in college, so I would need to apply for something else first. I can't seem to find the RD/Scholarships deadline anywhere too! Also, just to clarify, if I apply for RD, would I still get some scholarship (since I know some schools have earlier scholarship deadlines)? THANK YOU SO MUCH

Also, does Columbia University superscore the ACT?

Bump? Anyone? Any help is greatly appreciated!

Columbia gives only need based aid, so there is no financial benefit or disadvantage from applying ED (they meet 100% of need). The school of General Studies is for generally non traditional students. It looks like you’d probably be applying to Columbia College, but I’m not sure.

Columbia does not superscore ACT, and there is no medicine major. There is a pre-med track.

Just to clarify, the post-bacc program is for students who already hold a bachelor’s degree but would now like to meet the requirements necessary to apply for medical school. They basically do the pre-med track at an accelerated pace - since they’re not taking any other courses - and and a very high number of them place in great medical schools. Also, Columbia’s post-bacc is the oldest and one of the best regarded in the nation.

Columbia doesn’t offer any scholarships; they just give you need-based aid. There are deadlines to send in the FAFSA form and CSS Profile here: [Regular Decision - US Citizens | Columbia University Office of Undergraduate Financial Aid and Educational Financing](How To Apply | Columbia Financial Aid and Educational Financing)

You should apply to Columbia College (the undergraduate liberal arts college) if you want to do pre-med. You’d only do a postbac if you decided not to do pre-med in college, but decided to apply to medical school and had to fulfill the requirements after graduation, before applying to medical school. If you’re accepted to CC, you can take the pre-med track (chem-bio-physics-orgo-biochem(?)) and major in whatever you want. As long as you take the prerequisite classes and get a good score on the MCATs, you can apply to medical school!

yeah you have to do a bachelors degree before you apply and get accepted to med school
