Do they require teacher or counselor recommendations?

No letter, no essay. Course requirements, minimum 2.0 and SAT score needed. With a 3.0, any SAT score qualifies. No subject tests . Apply starting on 11-1. Apply as early as possible to 11-1.

Obviously, the more academic the CSU (Cal Poly) the higher the grades/scores need to be to actually get in.

Thanks. One of my friends just got rejected from her dream school, but is still deadset on going to school in CA. A few CSUs are still accepting applications, so I thought I’d look into it for her.

Another question: which is best out of CSU LA, CSU MB, and CSU EB? Those are the ones that are still accepting, I think.

Depends on the major.

All the CSUs offer a decent education in a wide variety of majors.

The differences in the places you listed have much to do with campus atmosphere.

CSU MB is newish and being developed at the old Fort Ord military base. There is still a lot to be done, but there is lots of room to do it. Students have said it is quiet and a little boring. But I would rather be in Monterey than the other two places. CSU EB is about 30 minutes from SF. It is in Hayward, just south of Oakland. The school is up on a hill and is beautiful..but not much of a campus life. There is a high African American population and the school is pretty diverse. Great business program. CSU LA has a high minority population also. At the last CSU conference, I sat in on their information session and they stressed diversity on the campus.

Is CSU Stainslaus still open? That is a good choice.

Thanks. Although not perfect, her stats are pretty solid. So I think that after this initial period of disappointment passes, she may reconsider her strict geographic restrictions and go to one of her OOS options.

But I’ll fill her on all this.
