Quick Question About Finals in College

I've never reached the "finals" in college yet. I was wondering do you take finals in the classroom with the professor at the end of the term or do you go to a testing center? We have a testing center here but I'm a tad confused. Sorry for the stupid question!

At my school we take it in the regular classroom.

I take them in random lecture halls on campus. The professor or at least TA’s are there. It’s usually not the same place you have lecture in. I’m not sure what you mean by “testing center” but it sounds that would be a place you might have some of your exams in.

Normally in the classroom the class uses. However, if i use my extended time allowence i either take them in the DA office or a random office.

In my college it’s usually in the same room as the lecture but sometimes it’s in a different room (they’ll tell you, of course).

" I’m not sure what you mean by “testing center” but it sounds that would be a place you might have some of your exams in."

um lol

I knew some people that had to take their finals in the testing center, but that was unusual. Most finals are in your usual classroom with your professor.

“I’m not sure what you mean by “testing center” but it sounds that would be a place you might have some of your exams in.”

The testing center is usually the place you take your placement tests in (if your school does that). At my school, if you miss a test, you can make arrangements with your professor to take it at an alternate time in the testing center.

I’ve never had a final in a different location than where I’ve taken the class, but I’ve had friends who have. All of your professors will post your final schedule pretty quickly into the school year so you’ll have time to figure it out.

We take ours in the classroom, although a lot of my professors just go back to their office and tell you to drop it off when you’re done.

Depends on the class. Usually they’re in the same classroom, but sometimes a different room is assigned. For example, my Stat final this past Spring was in a large lecture hall because both sections of the class were taking the exam in the same time slot. Both sections couldn’t fit in the regular classroom at once. Similarly, my Accounting final was in a classroom down the hall from the regular room because the other section of the class had their exam in the regular room (again, both sections in the same time slot).

But that’s just how my college does it. It may be slightly different elsewhere.

At my college, if the class is large, they split the class up into multiple sections depending on last name, and your last name may either be in the range of letters (for example, M-S) that gets to stay in the same classroom you have lectures in, or it’s among the ranges of letters that are required to go to a room in another building.
