Quick Question about Honors Societies

My school doesn't allow students to join honors societies until their junior year of high school- will colleges know this? I don't want colleges to think I loaded up on extracurriculars at the last minute.

Most honors societies don’t matter anyway, because they don’t actually DO any extracurricular activities.
So don’t worry about it.
What you should worry about is getting involved in some activities outside of classes, or outside of school entirely, that interest you and actually accomplish something, whether it is a paying job, or volunteering–whatever.

I have to agree- most of the honor societies at my HS aren’t held in high regard either because of how little they do. Science NHS, for example, only met five or six times last year. And two of those meetings were about… poop. (clearly the officers were very dedicated to their positions)

I couldn’t join any until junior year either; maybe that’s a thing across the board? I’m not too sure. Anyway, it’s not really a big deal on college apps. I’d join anyway since the application process for them isn’t that complicated, but also remember to do extracurriculars that you actually enjoy! It’ll be much more impressive (and fun) that way.
