Hey guys, so I recently enrolled for the HMMT (Harvard MIT Math Tournament), and I picked the November competition because I’m at the level where I was literally 1 question on the AMC 12 away from qualifying for AIME and I can do some AIME beginning problems. I realize I don’t have much time left so I have a simple question for anyone who is familiar with this competition: What rank on the general test would be enough so that you could write it on your college application? First of all, I’d like to say that I am NOT doing this competition just for college, I actually enjoy math very much, this is a way for me to see generally what rank in this competition is considered “good”. And I’m aiming for UCLA and maybe some private/ivy league schools depending on how well I do this academic year. For example, is top 50 noteworthy?? Should I aim to study qualify in that range? This question also has to do with the fact that I have a lot of other things I’m busy with like SAT’s and AP’s so I want to know how much time is necessary to put in to succeed in this tournament. Thank you so much in advance!
