How long does it last exactly? I can't find specific dates anywhere on their website. Does it vary for each area? I want to fit some other activities into next year's summer but since there's no definite span of days/weeks it's kinda hard to plan out.

not an answer, but I second this question.

also, are there specific locations for the intership, or can you just research at a local lab "through" NIH?

If you're going for a paid summer internship (and I assume you are and are not talking about one that spans into the school year), usually 8 weeks, with 8 or so hours put in a day.

Of course, some days require more, some less, and this is usually determined by how your research goes. And if your demand is reasonable, you could get a few days or up to even a week off for break.

It's much more flexible if you choose to not be paid for your internship.

do you choose the 8 weeks or are there specific dates for it?
