im attempting to sign up for orientation this summer, and after looking online, the sessions start 7:15-8:30 AM. does this mean that all students who are outofstate (i live in Chicago for example) have to arrive 1 day in advance and pay for the early arrival accomodations? otherwise we would have to fly in really really early?

correct me if im wrong on this

thanks

also, is anybody else having problems logging in to make a reservation for orientation? or is it just bc my admissions deposit hasn't been confirmed yet?

I think you have to wait until you get the e-mail to register for orientation. I am out of state too (WA) and I am going to fly down and stay for Wednesday night. I don't think there is any other way other than flying down really early.

DaneKulp: regarding your first post, you totally answered your own question. :)

I might add a comment. When you are capable of registering for Orientation, give some thought to first come, first served (in terms of registering for classes). You might want to consider reserving one of the earlier Orientation spots.

We were told last year, that it didn't matter when your Orientation was. Yet, when our son went through one of the last Orientations, and went through Fall Registration, many classes were already filled. He did get all the classes he needed (Calculus, Chemistry, GE, etc.). However, the times were not the best. And, some of the GE classes that he would have preferred were already full. Again, he did get all the classes he was advised to take (just not at the times he wanted, and with GE classes his first and second choices were filled).

Maybe other current students can attest to what i am posting, or maybe they found a different experience.

I live about 2 hours away from LA; in other words, I will be getting up at 4:00 AM.

Does anyone know if orientation starts between 7:15-8:30 AM? Like can I get there by, say 8:20? Or strictly at 7:15?

Hey DaneKulp! I'm from Chicago too. I think you have to arrive the day before and pay for the early arrival accomidations because when I looked, there were no flights at all that arrived in LA that early plus at that time of morning it takes forever to get to USC from LAX. Plus, I'm pretty sure I've never had a flight take off on time from O'Hare airport. Sooo... yeah... Yay for Chicago people

omg O'Hare sucks haha no offense cowtipper xX i rmemeber being stuck at the airport for 6 hours transferring planes TT jeebus hahaha but yea, i think the best way to do it is to arrive a day earlier. You get to meet your peers a day earlier and stuff =)

Or you can be like me and stay over at a friend's place for a week before orientation to sightsee and stuff XD haha
