Quick question about p/np

I am a UC freshman hoping to transfer to UCLA for fall 2012. I need to bring my GPA up and fast. Right now, it seems that I may end up getting a B in one of my courses. Will it look bad if I change the grading to P/NP? Will UCLA frown upon that or will it have absolutely no affect on the admission decision?

Btw, this course is not related to my major but is a GE

Thanks!

this is important

What is your overall GPA now and how much would the B drop it down?

The P/NP option can only be petitioned during the first 25% time frame. It’s past that point in all the systems.

I don’t think you can transfer a class that you take pass/fail or credit/no credit, anyway.

Of course you can! The limit is typically around 12 units (up to 18 units at numerous schools) that can be transfered or applied to a AA/AS BA/BS degree. The exceptions are junior or senior level classes that require a B or better pre-req, major pre-reqs and core classes, and non remedial math and english courses.
