I understand that colleges take a holistic approach, especially Brown, however I was wondering if my march SAT scores (630 CR, 740 M, 740 W) would in anyway hinder my abilities to get into an Ivy league school like Brown

I am recieving my scores on the June SAT tomorrow so these numbers could change. I just want to see if I should be worried.

P.S. i got a 33 on the ACT as well, however my guidance counselor wants me to send both ACT and SAT scores

no. send act and sat. the school will pick the one that they feel is best for you. they will disregard the other scores. you cannot lose by sending both scores.

do you think that those scores would hinder my chances at getting into a school like Brown. The 630 on reading is kind of where my question is directed to

if they think your act is better, they will completely disregard it.
if they think overall your sat is better, they will use that.
i don't think you are getting what i am saying. it doesnt matter, send anything you have.
let them decide what is best.

haha yea i do understand, there going to take whichever scores look the best to them, but what im asking is whether whichever scores they do take are high enough to be considered at Brown and whether those best scores out of my standardized testing scores would hinder my application when I apply.

no a 33 is great. no problems there.

if everyone said none of them, would you not have applied at all? i don't think i like that spirit. you try for the best with what you have, no matter what you have.

haha no im not that easily swayed. I just want to have a level head going in so I dont expect too much and likewise dont expect too little. This was pretty much an attempt to try and tell myself that the 630 will not ruin my chances at an Ivy league school, just in case the June SAT scores are not that great. I appreciate your help.

thank you

Well, you could wait until you see your scores. My father once told me you shouldn't make decisions unless you have to.

UPDATE....and an important one at that

as a complete shocker to me i ended up pulling out a 2270 (740 CR, 790 M, 740 W).....so i believe this thread is somewhat useless now...thanks for your help though

Congratulations! Can you relax a bit now?!

haha....yea the post made me appear like a worried nerd, which believe me i am not....i just put up good grades throughout high school and didn't want a stupid CB test to screw up my chances at a school like Brown...but yea thank you
