Quick question about the biology SAT II

How heavily is taxonomy covered on the test?

I didn’t encounter much taxonomy when I took it in May. I saw lots of questions on body systems, cellular structure/function (even in the section before you select molecular or ecology), and a quite few food webs. But then again, it varies from testing date to testing date. I’d say the best thing to do is have a good knowledge of everything rather than focus on what you don’t already know because chances are, what you don’t know won’t be that heavily covered.

Thanks, I will keep this in mind.

However, for the June test, Questions 5-10 were matching questions about animal taxonomy. They gave you examples of actual animals from various phyla (like scorpion, shellfish, etc) and they described certain characteristics of those phyla and asked you to match them accordingly. I wouldn’t go into heavy detail with taxonomy, but you should definitely know the characteristics of each phyla to be safe. Barrons has a nice web that outlines taxonomy. Memorizing that chart did well for me in June. (:

There were only a few taxonomy questions. I would say about 5 questions. Not sure about Bio E though.

^I completely agree with that.
