QUICK QUESTION ABOUT THE COMMON APP ESSAY

So I noticed that the spaces between a period and the next letter counts as a word.
For example "I got a cat. Then I got a dog". The space between the period and "then" counts as a word on the common app essay (not sure why). Because of the 650 word limit would it be wrong if I eliminated that space so I can have more room on my essay?

Are you sure? this didn’t happen for me, but if it’s really making problem I guess you can eliminate it. I’d say try again though.
