I took the SAT I for the first time this year in March and I was able to get a 730 in writing with a 67 MC and a 12 Essay. I know that I can consistently reproduce 11-12 essays, but lately i've been studying for the writing section using the Barron's SAT Writing Workbook. Like the actual SAT i am consistently getting about 5-6 wrong on the Barrons. Basically, I am wondering if the Barron's workbook is more difficult than the actual test (like most of their other review books) and if anybody had any tips to reduce my - 5-6 to a - 1-3

More practice :). Try to pinpoint exactly which kind of problems you’re getting wrong (is it idioms? modifiers? subject-verb agreement?) and read the grammar rules on these topics.

As for the relative difficulty of Barrons… I did the same on Barrons as I did on the actual test, but Barrons always felt a little harder.
