Hey, i recently got accepted to the Junior Statesmen Summer Program at Princeton....does anyone know if this program is prestigious among academic circles? will adcoms look favorably on this?

I went to the JSA Summer school at Princeton last year. It was generally okay. In terms of academic prestige, I'd say that JSA certainly has a group of kids who are really really keen about debate, leadership, and US and World politics. You'd basically have to take 2 AP courses during the month, attend 2 long (and sometimes dull) classes from 8:30 am to 3:30 pm in the afternoon. I do agree that I've learned alot about politics, public speaking, debating, and other academic and social skills, so I'd say it's a pretty good program among the countless other summer camps offered on campus.

I took AP Foreign policy and speech communications, yet the foreign policy prof was just so DULL. I swear that going to his class was the only time in my life when I actually fell asleep in a classroom. just keep that in mind, since you might get him this year again.

Anyway, I don't think that going to a JSA summer camp at Princeton would IMPRESSIVE adcoms. I mean, JSA is a pretty expensive program, and you just have to pay to get in there. Although I'll put that on my application, I wouldn't count too much on it as being a major EC or hook.

My D JSA at Georgetown, it was amazing.

That said, do not do something to impress adcoms. Do it because it is your passion.
