So I bought the notebook, and the pages look like concentrated graph-paper. What I understand is that we write down the entire lab (procedure, data, etc.) in this book- but it feels so odd to write over graph-paper. Is there any specific way we have to organize it and what not?

Well, not really, just by headings with the text under them and spaces between them. The usual, like title, then purpose, then procedures, then data charts, results, conclusions. And it’s a good idea to make your procedures one column only (half of the page) so that on the other side you can write your observations next to each step.

Is it necessary to take this lab if we’re taking chem 1B?

I believe that it is necessary to take the Chem1LB to accompany the class, well that’s what my hallmates and friends are doing anyway I would check with your counselor or 4 -year plan to make sure.
