I am about to purchase test prep material from 800GRE.com at this site...I just wanted to find out what people's experience is with this prep material, I know this has to do with the GRE prep forum but very few people post there...

800GRE.com appears to be one of those fake search websites from this IP…

Before you buy ANY prep material download PowerPrep from the GRE website and take a full, timed, sample test. Then decide if you need to pay for prep material. Although it is not adaptive, the PowerPrep tests are virtually identical to the real thing. In my case the real test actually repeated about a third of the questions that appeared in PowerPrep. They also have paper sample tests and other review material available free.
Personally, I used the Barron’s book to review the math - the hardest parts are just basic trigonometry but there are some tricks that you may have forgotten from high-school.

The test hasn’t changed in years (they were going to change it a couple years ago, but there were some serious problems). You can probably find copies of the big name prep books like Kaplan and Barrons in almost any local library if you don’t want to spend the money.

The problem is that I use Vista and powerprep does not work on Vista, and I have tried all I can to get a computer that has windows xp, but my school has refused to help…so I rily dont know what to do…

You may have tried this, but Vista has an XP compatibility mode:

I havnt tried it yet, but man if it does I would be eternally grateful

Thanks WilliamC by the way, I am using barron but I am not sure if it is an accurate predictor of the exact exam.

Thanks Sarbruis that helped me out big time!

It’s been 4 years now, but as I recall the Barrons package underestimated my quant score by 40 points and was identical on the verbal.

Incidentally, if you get PowerPrep working… I found it helpful to save one of the tests and take it a couple days before the real thing. I completely spaced out on one of the darn trig problems and that gave me time to review. That EXACT problem was on the real test.

Good Luck!

yeah, I felt so too, I miss like 3-4 questions in the verbal and like 5 questions in the quant, and I am really worried about the math…because I really dont have to do well in the verbal…I would try the powerprep stuff this evening
