Quick Question on Unweighted GPA

When calculating my UW GPA, what should I include an A- as? Is it 3.7, 4.0, or something else?

Also, do colleges have different methods of calculating UW GPA when it comes to specifics such as these or is there a general rule that all colleges abide by?

4.0: 90-100
3.0: 80-89
2.0: 70-79
1.0: 60-69
0.0: 0-59

This is by far the most common method. A- is generally something like 90-93, so I would say it’s a 4.0.

Oh, I see the light now - thanks for clarifying.

Something else you can help me with: Why is my post count stuck at 331?

HS Life posts aren’t factored into your post count.

@energize Ok, makes sense now, thanks.

My school does it differently. Every 5 point drop in GPA on the 100 point scale corresponds to a point .2 drop of the 4.0 point scale.

I disagree. That’s only common for schools that use the A, B, C, D, F system without -s and +s.

If your school uses -/+, then an A- is most likely a 3.67 or 3.7.

Some colleges use the UW GPA given while others recalculate it.

You should check with your guidance counselor though. Each school is different. Mine uses the traditional 10 point system with +s and -s… but my state (I go to a private school) has a uniform grading policy. So in public schools here, they all use a 7 point scale with no + or -.

I said most common. Most schools use the straight A, B, C, D, F system. Of course, many don’t, but most do.

my GPA is a 90 which = a 3.54.
