Quick question please

I was wondering, is there a considerable difference between these two ppl?
Mr. A got his bachelors in engineering at a private uni (e.g Rice U/Cornell) and later got his masters at XYZ.
Mr. B got his bachelors in engineering at a public uni (e.g U Delaware/OSU) and later got his masters at XYZ.
(coz i'm trying to decide whether to go to a public or private uni for undergrad studies)

Given the specific schools you named, you would do much better going to Rice or Cornell than Delaware or Ohio. I think the private unis are generally better for undergrad education than publics with similar selectivity in terms of academic quality and faculty attention. Public unis might have outstanding graduate education, however, and fabulous resources.

Case-specific.

BTW, U Delaware would be a great place for Chem E

I'm hoping to go into chem E. So going to U Del would be a better choice than going to Rice considering fees, edu, etc?

if you are getting a masters it wouldn;t matter which undergrad you go to as long as you end up going to the same school for master

Which state do you live in? Personally, I would choose Rice over Delaware for undergrad unless you are from Delaware. Then go to Delaware for your masters.

I could be wrong, but I thought Delaware ChemE and only ChemE was really world class, top 10, because they get so much money from DuPont. Other departments don't have that aura. Check it out carefully because I know Delaware is like really cheap even for out of state.

Well, I'm an int'l student and i have the privilege of picking any state... but the way i see it, Delaware is gonna cost me about 30k a year, while rice about 45k. And since both have pretty good Chem E programs, I'm considering the cheaper option. Besides, I'm probably gonna apply (later) to somewhere like UC Berkeley for masters... Is my "plan" reasonable?
