I'm not sure whether any of you would know this, but it's worth a shot anyway. I'm applying to colleges for the 2013-2014 school year and have a unique situation where my home/permanent address is not my mailing address and I would prefer all my correspondence to be sent to my mailing address. However, as I'm filling out the FAFSA and the CSS profile, I'm uncertain what to put when they ask for my permanent address. So my question is - for these questions, should I put my actual home address or my mailing address? Or essentially, when award letters are mailed out to accepted students later this year, will they use the address the school has on file for me or the address I provided on the FAFSA/CSS?

Is this a PO Box vs. a street address situation or a student apartment vs.a family home situation? Regardless the college will use the address you give them as your address in your student record and will use that to mail the finaid letter (if they mail a hard copy), and any other documents. They probably are using the address where they sent your acceptance letter right now. If you use an apartment address you’ll need to remember to do a change of address form if you think you’ll be moving around from year to year.

If this is a PO Box vs. street address if I remember I think there is space in the information to address both on FAFSA and Profile. FAFSA used to send a hard copy of the pin, but other than that I’ve not seen anything by mail. Profile, I don’t think I’ve seen anything my mail.
