Quick Question Regarding SAT's

I know this topic has probably come up several times before, but I couldn't find a thread that addressed the question I have. So here goes:

I recently re-took the SAT I, aiming to improve upon my old score (I only took it once in HS) and succeeded in doing so. I went from 1350/1600 to 1570/1600 (1930 to 2150) and my question is: how much will this actually improve my chances of getting into a top-tier school like NYU, Rice, or William and Mary given that I attend Appalachian State and maintain a 3.7ish gpa, and had a respectable HS record?

Thanks for any input, and sorry if this kind of post is stale or redundant.

If you are transfering for the sophomore year, your sat score would be a good shot. :)

Your college GPA is stellar. You have proven that you are a committed student. I don't think you will have any problem being accepted to William and Mary. Great job and best of luck!
