Hi guys! So I'm interested in neuroscience/psychology and creative writing/literature, and I've taken the SAT subject tests in literature (740) and us history (720). I'm a rising senior and I took a subject test in bio in may but I didn't score that well. However, I got a 4 on the bio ap exam. Is it necessary for me to take the bio subject test again in october even if i did well on the ap exam?

Also, none of the schools i'm applying to require 3 subject tests.

I would say no. You have two subject matter test north of 700. You should be in good shape. You may want to call the admissions office and/ or psych department at your prospective colleges and ask whether they want to see a science subject matter test.

Most school just want your two highest, unless you are applying for the engineering school or you want to be a math major. It never hurts to call.

Check colleges to which you are applying based on major for which you will apply. Cannot tell from your post but possibly you may be considering applying for a physical science major because of your mention of neuroscience. If that is the case some that require SAT IIs require a math and a science for such majors, e.g., Carnegie Mellon.

Thanks guys! @ Drusba- None of the colleges on my list and their specific departments require a science subject test at all. So even if I want to go into neuroscience, is it necessary for me to retake my bio subject test even if I did well on my AP? Thank you!

^It is only necessary to take science (or math) SAT if college requires it for the major for which you are applying. It has no impact on anything other than admission to college. If not required for admission to the major for which you are applying, you don’t need it.
