Do colleges calculate GPA if schools only send out letters (As and Bs)???

My school only sends out transcripts, no GPA... Will the colleges (NYU and GWU) calculate the GPA?... the reason im worried is because im about 2.98, 2.99 or 3.0 so it doest look to good. but no Ds or anything... just 4 or 5 Cs. HELP?

Wow, I love your bluntness zman13. But anyway, colleges will probably calculate your GPA from your transcript of letter grades. It doesn’t already have to be calculated for them in order for them to gauge whether or not they will accept you.

I don’t care if it’s weighted or not weighted. You have no idea what that 3.7 represents. If it’s all honors and AP filling out your transcript its a helluva lot different than a 3.7 in classes that might not be very rigorous.

The college admissions offices will look at the courses that you took and the grades that you earned in them. They will also factor in anything that they know about your school.

Hence why i’m asking if it is weighted or unweighted idiot. I don’t give a crap if you care or not, I asked so it is pretty obvious I care.

My senior Courseload is very rigorous. Junior and sophmore courseloads werent the most rigorous but meh, they were pretty tough since our school is well-known for its academic rigour. My 2.99 or 3.0 in any other surrounding school would have been anywhere between 3.6 and 3.9… im not even exaggerating.
