How many tests did you guys take before achieving a 2350+?

Its different for everyone. Ive seen ppl do it their first try. Some on second. And others on third

It took my kids 3 tests and a huge amount of practice tests between each real one :)

I meant practice tests

Why not score the practice tests, and when you consistently score above 2350, that is YOUR number of practice tests? Try to make the test environment as close to real life as possible, especially if you tend to choke.

Good luck.

well I didn’t get my 2350 yet, but I should be able to get it, or very close to it in October. My first SAT, I got a 1980 (no studying 590 CR, 770 M, 620 W 10 essay), then with 3 weeks and 10 practice tests before my next SAT, I scored a 2240 (680 CR, 760 M 800 W 12 essay). Now, I’ve just been learning vocab (that’s what brought my CR down so much on my second try), and if I get all the vocab right in October, I should be able to score 2350 (especially if I get my 800 in math, instead of 1 wrong again.)

They sure do kick you in the head for 1 wrong in the math section, don’t they? I guess it’s fair enough, but you can get so many more wrong in the other sections and keep an 800. Unlucky. Well done satman.

2nd try, but a lot of practice tests. I suggest spread it out. I finished the entire blue book, plus at least five external practice tests, but it wasn’t even painful, because I started early and spread the practice out over about three years.

I got it on my 1st try, but I had a lot of practice tests too. The Blue Book is really good for these tests, and I also took some diagnostic tests at this college prep place for additional practice. I’d say around 10-15 practice tests would be pretty good, although I did 20 in order to solidify my score at around 2350 (760 CR, 800 Math, 790 Writing)

I did ~11 tests probably, to the point where I scored consistent 2400s for the last few. My real score was a 2390, so estimate a little under what you score on practice tests.

@foolish Did you have to study any vocab? I’m afraid that I won’t know enough by the time I take the SAT for the first time in May.

I looked over direct hits and thecriticalreader’s list the week/two weeks before but not a huge focus.

Be naturally good at math and comprehension, get one of those SAT vocab books and get good graders on the essay.

2200 in january… 800 math, 680 cr, 720 writing. In the following 3 weeks after scores came out to march sat, i cranked out a test every single day. 2390 in march, missing 10 pts in math. So superscore of 2400. Overall i did about 50 official tests along with like 20 unofficial tests.
