Quick Question

When med schools say they require a year of bio, chem, etc. They mean any course within the field correct? Or do they mean the intro class or only specific course.

Sorry for the silly question just a bit confused.

I’m pretty sure they mean 1 year of general bio (usually bio101 and bio102), one year of general chem (usually chem101 and chem102) a year of orgo and a year of general physics

so yes, they mean the intro or general courses

For Bio, they’ll generally accept anything closely related, particularly since many colleges are revamping thier beginning Bio sequences. Thus, a semester of molec-cellular instead of Bio 1, but not Enviro. For the others, you could use AP/IB credit and take the next level up of math or physics, if you so desire. (not recommending that strategy, but indeed it is possible.)

Schools vary with this, but if you’re not taking the intro sequence with lab and want to take the next level up, you still might be expected to find lab courses to take.

absolutely, a lab must be included…
