I'm an incoming transfer and have no idea where to find a list of books I'll need for my courses. I've pre-registered for classes on ISIS. Is the book list available on ISIS or do I have to wait until the first day of classes to know which books to buy?

Do not stress. You do not need your books on the first day. They are all available at the bookstore across the street from campus, or on-line, or in the libraries. You can buy your books after the first class. And sometimes, the books on the course listing are not used, or not used until late into the semester. All this based upon my D who starts her 2d year at MHC next month.

Some book lists are available on ISIS. Go to the course info page (the one with the actual times/professor listed, not just the course description). Scroll down and it should have a list of books. If not, the Odyssey has lists of books according to class (and the books available there to buy). You will not need books on your first day but some will be needed within the first two weeks. However, usually those required in the first two weeks will be listed on ISIS and it will be indicated that you need it right away.

Don’t be so quick to assume you won’t need your books the first day. Most of the time, this is the case, BUT, it really depends on your professor. Several times during my three years at MHC, professors have assigned readings before the first day of class in order to dive right in. This caught me off guard once and it wasn’t a good feeling as you can imagine. MHC likes to keep you on your toes =)

Ordering through Amazon.com, etc, also has to offer savings you won’t find buying at the Odyssey!
