if on your application you said you were planning to take a certain AP, do you have to necessarily take it? im asking because i dont know if i have time to take one of them but do i have to inform them of this? also, does it matter what score you get on them? like if you dont pass one of them, will they rescind your admission or something?
thanks

On my UCI freshman contract for provisional admissions, it states that you must notify the admissions office immediately in writing or through the website, of any changes to your A-G courses in your senior year.Your admissions could be rescinded if you fail to maintain academic rigor in your course work.

That stated..I think you should make time ..If there is no possible way, contact them immediately.

AP scores do no affect admissions..I think it is only used to give you GE credits.

I don't think you need to tell because you are not changing your A-G courses. You are just not taking the AP tests you reported planned in May 2006.

You have to notify them if your high school classes change. They don't care what AP exams you take, and you never agreed to take any in the first place.

well i did write on the application i was going to take them. iasked my counselor and she said even if i dont pass them or get a 3 or something, they would rather see that than not taking them at all. do you think thats right advice?

There's no space on the application to indicate the AP exams you're taking, so where did you write this? Also, they won't even know if you took the APs or your scores by the middle of July, and who cares about admissions then?

no there is a spot. you list the APs you have taken and the ones you are planning to take. and well, it is a big deal in july too because isnt that when they send out letters or rescinding and all that?

You list the AP classes you are taking, not the tests, You are under no obligation to take the AP tests. From my experience, most of the UC's prefer you not use your AP scores to not take the class at the UC level. If you are still uncertain it is probably best to either call or e-mail the admissions office of the UC you plan on going to.

oh i am pretty sure that there is a spot where you list the tests you have taken and will take. my counselor said that you will have to take the same number of tests listed on the application

You planned the AP tests, but you are under no obligation to take those planned tests.

your counselor is full of it.
don't worry, i've been having similar issues with my counselor too. school counselors prefer to have more students take the AP exam because the more students that take the exam, the better the high school looks. if a certain high school has several students taking the AP class that aren't taking the exam, it makes the school look really bad.
so don't stress : )

i have hte same problem, im already admitted in a uc. but i planed to take an ap test that im not guna take nemore. is that okay? or will they liek revoke me or something
