Yeah...on my CVW the guy across the hall was a 21 y/o former marine and was telling me how he wasn't allowed to drink as a plebe.

That would be correct. If you are a Plebe, it doesn't matter how old you are, it is against the rules to drink. Upper class can get into big trouble if they are involved in drinking or providing alcohol to underage Mids but in particular Plebes. Rumor has it that they really want to crack down on alcohol abuse, particularly in light of the events of this past year. I think that you can expect more random breathalyzer testing next year.

When did they start those?

Z-

There was a recent Washington Post article on USNA's efforts to combat underage drinking, especially in light of the recent allegations of rape that were tied to alcohol use/abuse. I don't recall if the article specifically mentioned breathalyzers but did say that roving patrols would be increased. You can probably search for the article on-line if you're interested. It ran no more than a month ago.

I think the days of legal (b/c age was 18 for beer & wine) drinking to your limit, provided you could stagger back to Mother B, are over.

our brigade honor advisor for the next semester told '09 today during our honor call to expect a new alcohol policy at the supe's call later this week. i heard a rumor the 2/c might not being allowed to drink on tuesday-thursday liberty.

I'm not surprised.

It's always the 1% that ruin it for the other 99%.

Couldn't agree more Z.

The "blanket" admonishments drive me crazy. Work is notoriouis for this. One person screws up and rather than deal with THAT person, they put out a company policy change basically slapping everyone on the wrists.

Can anyone say personal accountability?
