Quick question

What are some ECs relating to psychology? For example, what kind of internships or activities can one do that relates to psychology?

Thanks in advance.

poker/chess

talk to your local physchiatrist and see if you can help him/her out after school. If they seem hesitant, do it for no pay, and they wont refuse. And you can write it off as community service.

If you have a hospital around you might be able to intern with a practitioner assuming the hospital has a system like the Cleveland Clinic.

Thanks everyone. I was also wondering about industrial and organizational psychology. What could I do that relates to this field?

I doubt that any psychiatrist or psychologist would allow you to help out in their office because of confidentiality issues.

What you could do to pursue an interest in psychology would be to volunteer at a battered women's shelter, hotline or similar place. Another option would be to get training in a conflict resolution or peer education program. Google and you can learn about such programs.

If there's a university around you, I'm sure there's professors who can help you set up a research project.

Thanks for the replies everyone. I was wondering what I could do if I did a research project? For example, what would I do with it? Can one publish the research?

Yes you could publish. That would look really good on an ap too.

There's lots of different types of research you could do. LOTS. Industrial and organizational psych... hmm... you could probably do a study on workplace dynamics and how people organize themselves into groups at work, or do more of a cognitive psych study on how people solve problems in industry... those are just what came off the top of my head... look around, google "industrial pysch" and "organizational psych" and you'll probably get some info about the research that's been done and what you can do.

Thank you all very much.
