Are we allowed to use mechanical pencils on the ACT because I know we couldn't on the SAT... ?

It really doesn't matter. They just say that so that you don't poke holes in your Scantron/answer sheet. It's the same graphite.

On the SAT, my proctor nagged the crap out of me for using a mechanical pencil. I finally said: "Im the one who will suffer the negative consequences, so I will use whichever instrument I want!"

But if the SAT is any indicator they will bug the crap out of you to use a regular pencil.

However, aaa12321 is correct - it doesn't make any real difference for the actual test, but apparently some people were cheating using the "whoops my scantron has a hole in it, so I need to re-enter in the answers after the test", then people would txt msg them some of the answers, and viola higher score!

Not quire South Korean cheating but pretty good nonetheless.
