I have a 3.6 HS GPA (3.8 with 4 APs in the last year) and a 1150/1600 on the SAT. I was deferred then rejected from Michigan so I'm going to purdue in the fall. If I feel like I really want to go to mich, If I apply for a transfer after one semester, could I get in with a high college GPA but a so-so GPA? Should I do that or wait an extra semester or two for the emphasis on the SAT to dwindle? I have good good EC's and good Rec's.

If you apply for transfer during you freshman year, your HS gpa and SAT score is much more important than your college gpa. But since Umich transfer admission rate is so high it is definitely worth trying after you first semester. But keep in mind that you must earn successive gpa from rigorous courses. Also, I recommend you to take SAT2 subject tests if you can. If you end up with rejected by Umich again, you can reapply after 3rd semester. If you maintain high gpa through all three semesters, they won't take your HS gpa and SAT score seriously.
