Quick question

Umm if you guys could answer this it would be really appreciated. when you aplly for colleges, do they look at you math A regents that you took in the end of 8th grade? i ask this because i didnt do that well, 78%. i am actually really smart at math (A student) but lets say that day didnt go so well. would that grade reject me from lets say ivy colleges? thanks..

Does your Math A score show up on your high school transcript? If so, they will see it. My D also took Math A (and Earth Science) regents exams in 8th grade and those grades show up on her transcript as she receives high school credit for those courses.

I don't know anything about Regents scores in particular, but I will tell you that what colleges receive for evaluation is your high school record, so if your 8th grade regents scores are included in your high school transcript for some reason, then they will see them.

I'm not sure that much weight would be given to something that happened as long ago as 8th grade even if the colleges were to see them, and there is no one thing that destroys a person's chances at the Ivy League schools (or anywhere else). But, as you will hear again and again on CC, Ivy League admission is a game of chance - there is nothing that guarantees your admittance or rejection...NOTHING. And, more importantly, you should not approach your college application process with an eye on the Ivy League. There are so many wonderful schools out there that will provide you with a collegiate experience that completely matches your current interests, your hopes for the future, your style of making and keeping friends, etc. The Ivy League is not the only place to go for the things that matter the most.

sadly the grade DOES come over to the high school. i know there are other colleges out there but did i ruin my chances into getting an Ivy already?

How did you do for the course? Most colleges, including the Ivies, understand that you can have an off-day for the final exam. What's more important is the final grade. As for regents exams in general, I don't believe most colleges outside of NYS in general and the SUNY system in particular put any stock in them.
