Is it possible / easy to switch from the Henry Samueli School of Engineering to the College of Letters and Science?

And what about the other way around?

Thanks.

[ul][]Yes, it’s easy to switch from HSSEAS to CL&S.
[]It’s more difficult to get into HSSEAS from CL&S. Talk to a guidance counselor at HSSEAS or attend a transferring-into-HSSEAS workshop through Campbell Hall/AAP or the HSSEAS office in Boelter Hall.[/ul]

i am a freshman and i just switched over to engineering

i turned in a little paragraph about why i wanted to switch schools on oct 1. about 2 weeks later, they approved my change. they evaluate you based on ur hs app. it wasnt that difficult for me. oh and i never went to a workshop thing

The workshop things are informative and do not affect your chances. They just give you an idea of what you need to do.

In your case, silly101, they evaluated you through their new policy where they decide that with your high schools stats whether or not you would’ve been admitted to HSSEAS had you applied there originally.

I think that the process is a bit easier than people expect if you are trying to switch into the “impacted engineering majors”. If the intended switch is within the first two quarters, the evaluation is based on high school stats, as silly101 confirmed. That has always been the case. However, there is minimum requirements which I cannot provide if you are planning to switch past the first year.

The workshop is useless; the only thing you need to do is go to Boelter Hall 6426 and ask for an application. Simply write a page (or paragraph) about why you want to be an engineering major (which can be total BS), and complete a 1-2 page application, and wait a few weeks.
