I am a freshman and I go to Northwestern. In my first 2 quarters, I took an "accelerated" math course. MENU 291, for those who are familiar. I ended up getting a C. Does this completely ruin my chances for Med school? My GPA for the 1st quarter is a 3.425...and I anticipate the same this quarter. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Completely ruin? No. Hurts? Yes.

You can still graduate with a 3.7 or 3.8, which puts you into a comfortable range. People have gotten lower than a 3.4 their freshman year and have gotten into med school. Just keep working hard. Sorry no 4.0 for you, but 4.0 doesn't mean you can get into med school.

I know this doesn't make a difference, but the instructor only curved the class to a C+, while the other section was curved to a B+. I have not made a C in any other class and I don't expect to make a C in an other one. If I do manage to make really good grades for the rest of my career, will one C affect my chances?

I think your question is already answered.
