If you're a 16 year old and pass the CHSPE, can u enroll in a community college as a full time student?

Yes you can.

Lots of us here have done it. I have, and I think duogmeg (?) has. I'm sure there are others, but yeah.

It's just that my friends don't approve of this, and they think it's impossible. That kinda led me into questioning myself. But I think this would benefit me in the long run. Thanks for the reply, keep em coming. I need some stories

It's definitely possible. It's actually quite common. If you give us your friend's reasons for not approving of it, we can offer you some perspective.

Generally, I recommend this for people who are absolutely miserable in high school, for whatever reason. If you just can't stand it any more, then it might be a good idea.

However, acceleration for acceleration's sake is usually a mistake. Any smart kid can graduate college at 20 if they drop out of high school and go to community college. But finishing early, in an of itself, isn't anything special or anything good. There's no prize for finishing first. I'm not suggesting this is your situation, but I just wanted to make that point.

The only downside I've found is social

hello, I don't usually post on this forum because I don't have much experience. However, since you specifically asked for some example, I figure I should offer mine (just keep in mind that I'm not encouraging everybody to do the same)

I came to US when I was fifteen, after finishing 9th grade back in my country. I skipped sophomore year in high school and took junior. After that one year, I moved to CA and decided not to waste time making new friends in a new high school and enrolled in college. So yeah, I was a full-time student at a community college when I was sixteen. And I haven't regretted that for a bit. In fact, it's kinda cool to know that you are one of the younger in class.

About the downside in term of social life, I don't think being 16 automatically makes you less desirable as a friend. If you are friendly, you can have friends anywhere.

haha you guys are awesome

Why would you want to? It's probably easier and looks better if you just take two years of AP tests instead.

Definitely the social problem. I mean I can't imagine how embarrassing it might be telling people later on you never even graduated from high school :S

Well, a lot of the problem is just that it's a CC and by nature a commuter school. It doesn't help that a lot of times, people stick to their cliques from high school while your high school clique is still in high school. You can definitely make friends and keep in contact with your high school friends, but it's easy to drift apart.
